Donkey Shelters

Providing Sanctuary and Shelter: A haven for donkeys.

Introduction:

Donkeys have played an integral role in human history for thousands of years, serving as beasts of burden and companions to countless individuals. Despite their unwavering loyalty and resilience, donkeys often find themselves in need of rescue and shelter due to various circumstances, including neglect, abuse, or abandonment.

Donkey Shelters:

Donkeys, require shelter from the harsh elements of nature. Heat, cold, rain and snow can pose serious health risks to these gentle creatures. Donkey shelters provide a safe space where they can seek refuge and stay comfortable. These social thrive on companionship shelters offer opportunities for them to interact with other donkeys, fostering emotional well-being and reducing loneliness.

Shelter Size:

For a standard/average sized donkey allow approximately 4.7 square meters (50 square feet) of covered area per donkey for their bedded area. That is approximately 9.4 square meters (100 square foot) for a pair. Our standard shelters allow for ample headroom being 7ft at the lowest point on the back. Consider that your donkeys need indoor space that provides enough bedded space to rest, but should ideally have more room to move around indoors if unable to go outside due to adverse weather.

Some donkeys like to chew the timber frame, due to this we include half height kickboards in all of our shelters as standard. We can also increase the length of our metal chew strips around the door and shelter to avoid damage to the timber.

We are proud to work closely with The Donkey Sanctuary and have supplied many shelters to this wonderful charity.
