The feeder sits on pressure-treated 4×4 timber skids and uses a strong 4×2 floor framework. This construction allows it to cope with daily use in busy fields.
In addition, pressure-treated timber gravel boards enclose the lower section. These boards protect the structure against moisture, impact, and ground-level wear.
Because the base is raised, airflow improves underneath the feeder. This also makes it easier to move when ground conditions change.
